Ascension St. Vincent Needs To Address The Alleged Nurse Racism Scandal — Silence Is Not Enough

A serious allegation is circulating online involving an Indiana LPN who is alleged to work with Ascension St. Vincent. Screenshots shared with JBAF19 appear to show racist and hostile messages directed toward a content creator. Because the person accused is reportedly connected to healthcare, the concern goes beyond social media drama.
This is about trust.
Hospitals are not regular workplaces. Patients walk into hospitals vulnerable, scared, sick, and often unable to advocate for themselves. When someone tied to patient care is accused of making racist comments, the public has a right to ask: Can patients of color trust that they will be treated fairly, safely, and respectfully?
To be clear, JBAF19 is reporting on allegations and publicly available information. A viral screenshot is not the same as a formal finding. However, Ascension St. Vincent’s silence so far does not help the situation.

Public records show Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis has had multiple state complaint surveys listed within the past five years by the Indiana Department of Health. Those complaint surveys do not all involve racism, and a complaint does not automatically mean wrongdoing was proven, but they do show that the hospital has been the subject of formal regulatory review.
There has also been prior discrimination-related litigation tied to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. In 2012, IBJ reported that an Indian-born doctor sued St. Vincent Hospital, alleging harassment and discrimination while she was a resident. Again, that case is separate from the current nurse allegation, but it is part of the broader public record that makes transparency even more important.
Ascension also publicly states that it has compliance and reporting channels, including the Ascension Values Line, for concerns involving potential violations of laws, policies, or standards of conduct. Ascension’s own nondiscrimination policy says people can contact its Consumer Experience department for help filing a grievance.
That is why the public needs a direct answer.
Ascension St. Vincent should make clear:
Whether the person accused is currently employed by or affiliated with Ascension St. Vincent.
Whether the hospital is aware of the screenshots circulating online.
Whether an internal review has been opened.
What policies apply when healthcare workers are accused of racist conduct online.
What protections are in place for Black patients, patients of color, and families who may now feel unsafe.
This is not about cancel culture. This is about accountability in healthcare.
When a nurse, LPN, or any healthcare worker is accused of racist behavior, the public deserves more than silence. Patients deserve to know whether the hospital takes the allegation seriously. Employees deserve to know whether racism is tolerated. The community deserves to know whether Ascension St. Vincent is investigating or ignoring the issue.
Silence does not prove guilt.
But silence does create doubt.
And for a hospital system built on trust, doubt is a dangerous thing.
JBAF19 has reached out for comment and will update this story if Ascension St. Vincent responds.
